ARTICLE I. - IN GENERAL


Sec. 31-1. - Adoption of state tax code.

The provisions of the Texas Tax Code as set forth in V.T.C.A., Tax Code, § 1.01 through § 211.259 is hereby adopted by the city as if set forth at length herein. Three (3) copies of the Tax Code shall be filed in the office of the city clerk.

Sec. 31-2. - Ad valorem tax rate for the maintenance and operation of the city government (2002).

The city council hereby sets and levies for general purposes an ad valorem tax rate of 36.204 cents per one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the tax year beginning January 1, 2002, and ending December 31, 2002, on all property, real, personal, mobile, and mixed, within the limits of the city, not otherwise exempted by the Constitution or laws of the state and ordinance of the city.

Sec. 31-3. - Ad valorem tax rate to pay the principle and interest on the funded debt of the city (2002).

To provide for the payment of the principal and interest on general obligation bonds and certificates of obligation issued by the city and to create a sinking fund for the payment thereof as they severally mature, there hereby is levied for the tax year beginning January 1, 2002 and ending December 31, 2002, a special tax of, and at the rate of, 21.650 cents per one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation on all property, real, personal, mobile, and mixed, within the limits of the city, not otherwise exempted by the Constitution or laws of the state and ordinance of the city.
