ARTICLE II. - DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES [30]


Sec. 6-16. - Created.

A department of development services is hereby created.

Sec. 6-17. - Director and assistant director.

The department of development services shall be administered by a director known as the director of development services, and may be assisted by an assistant director known as the assistant director of development services.

Sec. 6-18. - Divisions.

The department of development services shall consist of the following divisions:

(1)

Development services.

(2)

Electrical inspections.

(3)

Plumbing inspections.

(4)

Heating and air conditioning inspections.

(5)

Sidewalk and trench inspections.

(6)

House numbering and permits.

(7)

Minimum housing.

(8)

Administration.

Sec. 6-19. - Duties.

The department of development services shall in addition to all other duties and functions imposed by any ordinances, furnish administrative assistance to the board of adjustment in the performance of its duties under article IV of chapter 35 of this Code. Additionally, administrative assistance shall be furnished to the board of review for historic districts and landmarks in the performance of its duties under article VIII of chapter 35 of this Code.

Sec. 6-20. - Fees for incorrect address or name on permits.

Whenever an incorrect address or incorrect business or assumed name (d.b.a.) is given to any permit writer working for the divisions enumerated in section 6-18, an address correction fee in the amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be charged to the party giving such incorrect information.

Sec. 6-21. - Training programs.

(a)

The San Antonio Building Codes Academy (SABCA) is hereby established for the purpose of providing training courses relating to continuing education for technical codes and international code council certifications.

(b)

Training courses sponsored by SABCA relating to technical code continuing education and certifications shall adhere to and be consistent with applicable state statutory authorities and administrative codes.

(c)

For licensed plumbers, training courses must follow Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1301, Plumbers.

(d)

For licensed electricians, training courses must follow Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1305, Electricians and 16 TAC ch. 73, electricians.

(e)

For air conditioning and refrigeration contractors, training courses must follow Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1302, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors and 16 TAC ch. 75, air conditioning and refrigeration contractors.

Sec. 6-22. - San Antonio Building Codes Academy refund fee.

San Antonio Building Codes Academy refund fee: Fifty dollars ($50.00) (if canceled within one week of the event).
