Sec. 32-151. - Establishment of members.
The Market Square Commission is established under the authority of Section 49 of the City Charter. The Market Square Commission shall consist of seven (7) members serving two (2) year overlapping terms and shall be appointed by the city council from the following categories:

Except for the Market Square Merchant, none of the other members of the Market Square Commission shall have a substantial interest in any business entity in Market Square as that term is defined in Chapter 171 of the Local Government Code, Vernon's Texas Statutes Annotated.

The purpose of the Market Square Commission is to advise city staff on the promotion, development and preservation of Market Square as a major destination for tourists and community residents.

The Market Square Commission will meet a minimum of twice per calendar year and all meeting will be governed by Robert's Rules of Order.

At the discretion of the City manager or his designee, the commission may assist city staff in the coordination and promotion of fund raising events designed to directly benefit the promotion, preservation and capital development of Market Square as a major destination for tourists and community residents.
