DIVISION 4. - TASK FORCE ON DOWNTOWN HOUSING [30]


Sec. 2-96. - Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Downtown business area means the area bounded by I-95, Walnut Street, Martin Luther King Boulevard and 12th Street.

Sec. 2-97. - Established.

There is hereby established a task force on downtown housing.

Sec. 2-98. - Purposes.

The purposes of the task force on downtown housing shall include, but not necessarily be limited to:

(1)

The furthering of the development of new multifamily apartment units for persons employed in the downtown business area who are seeking housing in close proximity to the city's commercial center;

(2)

Further the opportunities to attract new residents who would reside in the downtown business area, regardless of the location of their employment; and

(3)

Further the development of student housing for fulltime and parttime students who are matriculating at local institutions of higher learning in the downtown business area.

Sec. 2-99. - Composition.

The task force on downtown housing shall be composed of ten members as follows:

(1)

One member each from the real estate and housing department, the commerce department, and the Wilmington Economic Development Corporation;

(2)

Two members who shall be designated by the mayor; and

(3)

Five additional members who shall be designated by the city council president.

Sec. 2-100. - Meetings; report.

The task force on downtown housing shall meet on a regular basis to carry out its charge. For purposes of this section, "meet on a regular basis" shall mean not less than monthly, and as often as deemed appropriate and necessary by the chair and a majority of the members of the task force.
