DIVISION 6. - CITY AND COUNTY INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS COMMISSION


Sec. 2-121. - Established; membership.

There is hereby established a city and county intergovernmental relations commission as part of the government of the City of Wilmington which shall act as the city government's participant-intergovernmental commission with the county government. The membership shall include the president of city council, two members of the council appointed by the president, the mayor, and two appointees from the city administration appointed by the mayor. The terms of all of the members shall coincide with the respective terms of office of the mayor and the president of the council.

Sec. 2-122. - Purpose.

(a)

The purpose of the city and county intergovernmental relations commission and its county counterpart shall be to serve as a forum for the discussions of important issues affecting both jurisdictions, including but not limited to mass transportation, housing, public safety, land use planning, the environment, and other areas of mutual concern and anticipated mutual benefit.

(b)

The purpose of the commission is limited to intergovernmental relations; the commission does not constitute an endorsement of a metropolitan form of government.
