Sec. 40-372. - CDL bonus; International Code Council (I.C.C.) certification bonus; other bonuses.

Sec. 40-374. - Supervisory emergency compensation rate.
(a)
Meal allowance. All employees who are eligible for authorized overtime compensation and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall be provided a meal allowance of $8.50 after ten consecutive hours of work and every four hours thereafter, provided that a request for such payment is reported on the employee's timesheet.
(b)
Shift differential. All employees who serve in supervisory positions in the communications unit of the police department and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall be provided with a shift differential of $0.40 and $0.50 per hour worked during the second and third shifts, respectively.
(c)
Shoe allowance. All employees who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and who are required to wear safety shoes by the department head shall receive an annual allowance of $100.00 for appropriate safety shoes. Employees may obtain the shoes either from an approved vendor selected by the city or may purchase the shoes from a vendor of their choice and apply for reimbursement. To qualify for reimbursement under this subsection, employees are required to present the new shoes, along with a receipt for their purchase, to their immediate supervisor(s).
(d)
Uniform maintenance allowance. All employees who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and are required by the city to wear a uniform, protective clothing, or any type of protective device as a condition of employment shall have such uniform, protective clothing, or protective device furnished by the city. In addition, the cost of maintaining the uniform or protection clothing shall be paid by the city, or in lieu thereof, the employee may receive a uniform maintenance allowance of $250.00 per year, which shall be paid in semi-annual installments.

Sec. 40-372. - CDL bonus; International Code Council (I.C.C.) certification bonus; other bonuses.
(a)
All employees whose employment requires a commercial driver's license ("CDL") and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall receive an annual payment of $500.00 for possession of a valid CDL-A, and an annual payment of $400.00 for possession of a valid CDL-B, as applicable.
(b)
All employees whose employment requires International Code Council (I.C.C.) certification and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall receive an annual payment of $600.00 for plumbing and mechanical certification/certified building official (C.B.O.), $500.00 for building inspection certification, or $400.00 residential property maintenance certification/permit technician certification.
(c)
All employees whose employment requires base level water supply operator certification and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall receive an annual payment of $600.00 for base level with advanced distribution and surface water treatment system operator endorsement, an annual payment of $500.00 for base level with advanced distribution system operator endorsement, or an annual payment of $400.00 for base level water supply operator's license.

Sec. 40-373. - Attendance bonus.
(a)
All classified service employees, and all non-classified service employees, excluding the mayor's chief of staff, all department heads, all mayor's office division directors, and excluding all limited service employees, who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement and who maintain exemplary annual attendance shall be eligible for a bonus, payable either in cash or additional vacation time, in accordance with the schedule below:

For the purpose of this section, absences of less than a whole day shall be considered absences of a day.
(b)
Eligible employees shall be given a choice of cash or additional vacation time, but shall not be permitted to take this benefit as a combination of the two. If the employee elects to receive vacation time, the additional vacation days shall be taken during the calendar year in which they are awarded and shall be scheduled in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. If the employee elects to receive cash, the bonus will be payable by March 1 of the following year.

Sec. 40-374. - Supervisory emergency compensation rate.
With the approval of the mayor's chief of staff, a commissioner or department head may declare an emergency situation wherein salaried supervisory personnel who are exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 USC § 201 et seq., as amended, and who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall be compensated for hours worked above 40 hours per week at the straight time hourly rate equivalent to their regular salary or receive equivalent time off for the actual number of hours worked over 40 hours. However, employees in supervisory positions in communications unit of the police department (i.e. communications supervisor) shall be paid at one and one-half times the hourly rate that is equivalent to their annual salary.
