Sec. 15-174. - Application of general provisions.
Unless the provisions of this article otherwise provide, all of the provisions of Article I of Chapter 15 are applicable to the licenses referred to in this article.

The purpose of this article is to establish a system for the registration of commercial weighing and measuring devices and to recover the cost of inspecting and testing such instruments as authorized by Business and Professions Code Section 12240.

Sec. 15-176. - Application for registration permits.
All applicants for commercial weighing and measuring device registration permits and renewals shall be filed with the county agricultural commissioner-sealer.

For the purpose of this article and unless the test otherwise requires, the following terms and phrases shall have the following definitions:
(1)
County sealer shall mean the sealer appointed by the Kings County Board of Supervisors and his duly authorized agents.
(2)
Weighing and measuring devices used for commercial purposes for which a registration permit fee is required shall be such devices as defined in Business and Professions Code Section 12500(a) and (b).
(3)
Commercial purposes shall have the meaning assigned to it by Business and Professions Code Section 12500(e).
(4)
Location means the room, enclosure, building, space or area where one or more weighing and measuring devices are located or operated.

Sec. 15-178. - Renewal of permit.
(a)
Each commercial device registration permit shall expire on December 31st of the current year provided such permit may be renewed without penalty on or before March 1st next following expiration date.
(b)
Permittees who do not renew the device registration permit on or before March 1st shall pay a penalty established by the master fee schedule.

The revenue from any fee charged pursuant to this article shall be placed in the general fund of the county and used solely for the activities required by Business and Professions Code Section 12242.
