ARTICLE I. - SOCIAL SECURITY


Sec. 31-1. - Extension of benefits to eligible employees.

It is hereby declared to be the policy and purpose of the city to extend to the eligible employees thereof, effective as of July 1, 1958, the benefits of the federal old-age and survivors insurance system, as authorized by the Federal Social Security Act and amendments thereto. In pursuance of this policy, the city manager shall take such action as may be required by applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Sec. 31-2. - Withholdings from salaries or wages.

Withholdings from salaries or wages of employees for the purpose provided in section 31-1 are hereby authorized to be made in the amounts and at such times as may be required by applicable federal laws and regulations, and shall be paid over to the federal agencies or their designees in such amounts and at such times as are designated by state and federal laws and regulations.

Sec. 31-3. - Records and reports.

The city manager shall maintain such records and submit such reports pertaining to the subject matter of this article as may be required by applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
