Pursuant to Section 970 of the Military and Veterans Code, the board shall appoint a veteran as county veteran service officer, which officer shall in Ordinance 4099 and all other ordinances, resolutions and communications, be known as and referred to as director, military and veterans affairs. The director, military and veterans affairs shall be the department head of the department of military and veterans affairs and shall have all of the powers and duties provided for in Sections 970, 971, and 973 of the Military and Veterans Code. The director, military and veterans affairs, pursuant to Section 972 of the Military and Veterans Code, shall observe the standards and regulations prescribed by, and shall comply with the directions of, the State Department of Veterans Affairs and its authorized representatives. As used in this section, “Department of Veterans Affairs” means the public corporation provided for in Section 694 of the Military and Veterans Code. Pursuant to Section 970 of the Military and Veterans Code, the director, military and veterans affairs also shall perform any and other such services as may be detailed to him for performance by the board. (Ord. 9003 § 2 (part), 1966: Ord. 8210 § 1 (part), 1962: Ord. 4099 Art. 41 § 934, 1942.)
