7.50.010 Boarding house--Defined.

As used in this chapter, “boarding house” means a lodging house or other building or structure maintained, advertised or held out to the public as a place where sleeping or rooming accommodations are furnished to the whole or any part of the public, whether with or without meals. Such places which provide sleeping and living accommodations to five or more persons unrelated to the operator, which are not otherwise licensed under this title as an apartment house, hotel or motel, shall be required to obtain a license as a boarding house. 7.50.020 Boarding house--License requirements.

Every person conducting a boarding house who does not have a license issued pursuant to Section 7.72.020 shall first procure a license and pay an annual license fee in the amount set forth in Section 7.14.010 of this title, under the appropriate heading. 7.50.030 Apartment houses.

A. In addition to any other license or permit which may be required by this Title 7, or by any other ordinance, every person conducting a hotel, apartment house, or other building housing five or more families, except a motel, shall first procure a license, and for such license shall pay an annual license fee in the amount set forth in Section 7.14.010 of this title under the appropriate heading.
B. A license for a second or later year shall be deemed a renewal even if, by reason of alterations or additions, the number of families which can be housed is decreased or increased. 7.50.040 Motels.

Every person engaged in the business of maintaining or conducting a motel shall first procure a license and pay an annual license fee in the amount set forth in Section 7.14.010 of this title, under the appropriate heading.
