Sec. 2-130. - Fee for embalming.
Sec. 2-131. - Fees for various services provided by the sheriff's office.
Sec. 2-130. - Fee for embalming.
Whenever the sheriff-coroner takes custody of a dead body pursuant to law, he may embalm the body and charge and collect ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) from the person entitled to its custody, except when the body is that of a child not more than fourteen (14) years of age or a person for whose burial there is available less than ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($ 150.00), in which cases the expenses of embalming are a county charge. The fee above set shall be paid into the county treasury.
(Ord. No. 2619 § 1.)
Sec. 2-131. - Fees for various services provided by the sheriff's office.
(a)
The sheriff's office provides certain services for particular individuals and organizations that are considered extraordinary levels of services.
(b)
The sheriff's office has conducted a thorough analysis to determine the cost of providing these services. The board of supervisors find that it is in the public interest that these services be continued and that fees be charged to offset their cost.
(c)
Recommended fees include cost assumptions based on the best information we have at this time. Because decisions we are making over the coming weeks and months to address the current budget deficit may affect these cost assumptions, the sheriff's office will coordinate with the county administrator and county counsel to adjust fees (via consent calendar resolution) if needed after the budget and balancing decisions have been finalized.
(d)
