Article XIII. - Rabies Control.


Sec. 5-160. - Rabies control to be responsibility of health officer.

The health officer shall be responsible for supervising rabies control activities within the county in accordance with Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 1900) of Division 3 of the Health and Safety Code, Subchapter I (commencing with Section 2500) of Chapter 4 of Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations, such other laws, rules and regulations relating to rabies control as may be enacted or promulgated by the state, and the policies and procedures established by the board. The director shall cooperate with and assist the health officer in carrying out any measures necessary for rabies control, including, but not limited to, quarantining of animals and complying with directives of the health officer.

Sec. 5-161. - Rabies control fee.

The owner of any animal which has or is suspected of having rabies shall pay a rabies control fee, the amount of which shall be established pursuant to Section 5-4, to cover the costs incurred by the Division in effecting a quarantine and in performing other associated rabies control activities in connection with such animal. The rabies control fee shall be in addition to any other fee or charges imposed by this chapter.
